Windows XP Connection Setup Print E-mail

Go to the START button and click on Control Panel.
 

In the Control Panel find Internet Options and double click on it. (If they cannot find Internet Options, you will see the screen below. Say "On the left hand side, click on Switch to Classic View")

 

In the Control Panel find Internet Options and double click on it.

 

On the keyboard, press the backspace key, that will blank out the starting Home Page address. Then, I want you to type in www.prairie.ca. Just to double check the spelling Prairie is spelt P-R-A-IR-IE.

At the bottom of the window press the Apply button. At the top of the window click on the Connections tab.

 

In the white box, do you have any entries in there or is it blank? If you have entries let's remove them. Select it and them click on the Remove button. Say YES you are sure to want to delete it.

Is the white box blank? Good. Now click on the Setup button. This will start up the New Connection Wizard.

 

Press Next.


 

You want the top choice Connect to the Internet. Press Next.


 

You want to select the middle choice Set up my connection manually. Press Next


 

You want the top choice Connect using a dialup modem. Press Next.


 

Okay now it says ISP Name. Type in Prairie Online. You can have a capital P, small r. Put a space between Prairie and Online. Press Next


 

Now it should say Phone Number. Type in Modem Number and press Next.


 

Now type in your username. Remember it's all small letters and no spaces. Then, click in the password field and type in your password. Again, no spaces, all small letters. Click in the confirm password field and type in your password again. Leave all three boxes checked and press Next.


 

Put a check mark in Add a shortcut to my desktop and press Finish.


 

Okay, that takes care of setting up the Internet access. Now we just need to set up your e-mail and you will be ready to go.
